He has also edited a companion volume to Nova Scotia: Shaped by the Sea titled Nova Scotia: A Traveler’s Companion. Rita Joe is a well-known Mi'kmaq poet, the author of Song of Eskasoni and Poems of Rita Joe. She was recently awarded the Order of Canada.
